Credit Union
The Credit Union is a local savings and loans scheme affiliated to Newport Credit Union. The Union takes place weekly from Alway Community Office and is run by trained volunteers. In order to join the Credit Union you will need two forms of ID one with your address and one with your signature. It costs £1 to join the Credit Union and members are able to take out loans after 13 weeks of saving. There is also a young savers scheme so that children can start saving too!
To join the Credit Union bring your ID along to the community office from 10am - 12noon on Tuesday.
Mums 4 Mums
Mums 4 Mums is a peer support group run by mums for mums. The group meet weekly at Alway Demountable (situated behind Alway Primary School) to chat, get signposting information and undertake training. A crèche is provided as part of the group so that mums can get some essential me time; this crèche is provided as part of the Genesis project.
If you are interested in coming along to Mums 4 Mums pop up to the demountable at 1.15pm on Thursday.
Fruit & Veg Co-op
Alway Fruit & Veg Co-op is a weekly project run by volunteers aimed at providing affordable, local produce from a local farm helping people to get their five a day easier. £2 and £1 bags of veg and £2 bags of fruit are available during winter and during the summer months £2 salad bags are also available. You can place your order on Thursday morning 11am - 12 noon at Alway Community Centre and your order can be picked up the following week. Deliveries are available on request.
Alway Fruit & Veg Co-op will be accepting Healthy Start vouchers in the near future so Watch This Space!
Lunch Club
Alway Lunch Club for the over fifties will be re-opening in Spring 2007. The Club will be open Wednesday lunch times. |
