Alway Summer Fun Programme;-

21 st July-13 th August

Tuesdays 10-12am Alway Helping Hands – car wash, litter pick etc.

12-2pm Drop in/Workshops – education, jobs, sexual health, police, Fusion (drugs & alcohol awareness)

5.30-7.30pm Senior Youth Club – table tennis, arts & craft, team-building

 

Wednesdays 10am-2pm Trips (alternate between Junior & Senior Youth Club)

Thursdays 10-12am Allotments – clear ground, plant and grow-excl 6 th Aug

12-2pm Team Building Games -excl 6 th Aug

5.30-7.30pm Junior Youth Club - table tennis, arts & craft, team-building

Saturday 1 st Aug 10am-3pm Alway Fun Day

Thursday 6 th Aug 10am-4pm Community Challenge Club – Inter community challenge day

relaxed place. There are

youth workers here to help

What’s it all about!
Alway is a communities first area, because of this they have the privilege of a youth development officer whose responsibility it is to meet the needs of the young people and also offer opportunities which they may be otherwise unable to access.

 

 

YO YO YO!
I am the youth development officer and I work with young people who live in the sub ward of Alway and are aged between 10-25, I am based in the Alway community office. I support a local youth forum in making decisions in their community, their views and representation of young people go towards informing the projects that are run,

Projects to be introduced in the new Community Centre are:

Get cooking;-
Sharing and learning cooking skills, to become healthier!

Keep Fit;-
Encouraging exercise and healthier lifestyles.

Singing;-
Promoting confidence, whilst teaching vocal technique and rhythm skills resulting in amazing performance opportunities.

Street dance;-
Learning a new skill, promoting teamwork and taking part in showcases and competitions.

Gospel Choir;-
Sending positive messages through music.

After school club-young citizens;-
Learning to become a good and active citizen whilst assisting in the transition to high school.

Young women’s project;-
Looking at issues facing young women and building self esteem.

In the holidays we run exiting programmes, keeping young people busy with positive and educational activities. Some of the programs have included:

Alway Youth

Other 6 & 12 week projects will be run on top of regular activities, such as; outdoor education, rap projects, snowboarding and many more!
