Established in 2003, the annual Alway in Bloom competition has helped to get people of all ages actively involved in improving the environment of their community.
Since the formation of the Alway in Bloom committee, there has been an increased interest in the local environment as well as pride in the maintenance of residences in Alway. The number of entrants into the Glorious Garden competition has increased each year over 40 entrants last year to the three categories; Best Front Garden, Best Back Garden and Hanging Baskets. As part of the wider “Wales in Bloom” Alway won awards in the beginners category before moving into the next scale in 2007.
If you are interested in becoming part of the Alway in Bloom committee undertaking projects in public spaces, getting young people involved in respecting the environment or coordinating and entering the Alway in Bloom Glorious Gardens Competition, download an application form and send it back to Alway Community Office.
Alway Community Fun Day
The Annual Community Fun Day, held on the 1 st Saturday in August from 10am to 3pm, always promises to be a great day out for all the family whatever the weather!
With a wide variety of stalls and events, manned by willing volunteers, there is bound to be something to keep everyone entertained. This event proves to be an excellent opportunity to get the whole community involved by both working and enjoying themselves in a fun environment. |
