After much work including: clearing the pond to create channels to preserve it's bio-diversity, installation of wider pathways, a safety fence around the pond, plus new fishing pegs, access-ways, benches and bins, the redevelopment work has finally been completed.

The New City Anglers have been actively involved in the project and have won a number of awards including the Newport Volunteer Award in the Sport Category and the South Wales Argus Environmental Award. The group work extremely hard to keep the environment to a high standard so that all residents within the area can enjoy the facilities and the wildlife can flourish. The area did suffer a spate of vandalism over the Christmas period but are now restocking the pond and will establish a ticketing system for fishing.
